Position Overview:

The Fire Chief should be a professional command level fire officer, with demonstrated experience leading a fire department and who embraces a high level of personal and departmental accountability.  The selected candidate should have extensive knowledge of fire suppression, emergency medical service, fire prevention, and emergency management.


Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • EMT-Basic (Cardiac/paramedic preferred but not required)
  • RI FFI-FF2 with Hazmat Certification
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Fire Department operation, with 5-years of command experienced preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or Management or any equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
